Esther N McCarthy picks perfect paperweights, brilliant books and Christmas collectables this week.

This Robin paperweight is perfect for the season that’s in it. Made by Molly Ellis, and priced at €25, this glass paperweight is based on Molly’s needle felt and nestled in a box full of dried berries and preserved accents that the artist collects from her garden.

She is part of Blackwater Valley Makers in Fermoy and you can find out more at www.ewesir.ie

Our Coffee Table book for this week is David King’s ‘But Really... Adventures With a Difference’.

But if you have kids in the house you can guarantee it won’t stay on the table for very long. Inspired by David’s adventurous little boy, Adam, and with illustrations by the very talented Jess Delacour, this book is all about including people who aren’t always noticed or feel included.

Adam is five years old and has a brittle bone condition, he loves to play wheelchair soccer with his club, Youghal Utd, and this book is about a real-life hero, full of fun and action and colour.

The kids will love it. Available in all good stores for € 11.99, including Easons nationwide and www.jessedelacour.com and www.adventureswithadifference.com

I love the idea of gifting a tree this Christmas. So you buy a tree card for €12 and GROWN will plant a native Irish tree on your behalf.

You’ve helped fight the climate crisis and cut down on unnecessary sock buying, win-win! Your certified tree will be planted on Irish soil, in Lackamore, Co Clare.

You will receive a handmade 5x5’’ blind embossed gift card, written on each card is a reference number as to when and where the tree will be planted. GROWN is an Irish ethical clothing company, inspired by the sea, coast and wildlife of Ireland. GROWN only use organic and earth-friendly materials to make their clothes.

The business was launched in 2016 by Neil McCabe, Stephen O’Reilly and Damien Bligh with a clear focus of planting a tree for every tree.

They’re at Gifted RDS this weekend, Fumbally Stables December 20-23rd and Hen’s Teeth Studio December 20-23rd selling trees. www.grown.ie/gift-a-tree
