Divers hospitalised after suffering 'bends'

Two divers have been rescued in Co Clare and taken to hospital after getting into difficulty in deep waters.

Two divers have been rescued in Co Clare and taken to hospital after getting into difficulty in deep waters.

Diving off the coast of Kilkee, a man and a woman, both in their 20s, are understood to have suffered decompression sickness.

A Shannon helicopter transferred both divers to University College Hospital in Galway.

Both divers will now be treated in a decompression chamber as they are suffering from what is known as the 'bends'.
