It took all Blackrock College's perseverance and power to break down a resolute King’s Hospital in the Leinster Schools Senior Cup quarter-final at Donnybrook.

Rock trailed 6-3 to two Killian Lett penalties in the 33rd and 47th minutes.

The game turned in the 58th minute when Blackrock hooker Peter Young struck a ball against the head and prop Gary Walsh, eventually, grounded the ball at the posts.

That was the killer blow.

The second and third tries, near the end, from centre Luke Fitzgerald and full back David Nyhan, were merely the decorations of an impressive performance.
