Apprentice Robert Miles was suspended for 21 days by the stewards at Chester today after dropping his hands and losing second place on Anousa in the Warwick International 25th Anniversary Handicap.
He was adjudged to have breached Rule 156 (i) in that he failed to ride out to the finish.
Anousa was involved in a duel with eventual winner Peak Of Perfection, and once he had lost that battle Miles eased down in the final furlong.
Peak Of Perfection won the race by five lengths, with the Paul Howling-trained Anousa losing second to Master Wells by a head.
Miles was hit with a 21-day ban (July 7-17 and 19-28) as it was his second such offence.
