Blackpool and Cardiff name unchanged sides
Blackpool and Cardiff were able to name unchanged sides for today’s Coca-Cola Championship play-off final at Wembley.
City’s top scorer Peter Whittingham shrugged off a groin injury so boss Dave Jones picked the team which beat Leicester in the semi-final, while Ian Holloway stuck with the line-up which got past Nottingham Forest.
Cardiff are bidding to become the first Welsh team in the Barclays Premier League while Blackpool are looking to play in the top flight for the first time since 1971, with the winners set to pocket an estimated £90m (€103m) from the so-called richest match in the world.
