The new driving theory test for people applying for their first provisional driving licence comes into effect for the first time today.
The test will give applicants 45 minutes to answer 40 questions drawn from a total of 743. In order to pass, test-takers will have to get 35 answers right.
Questions will cover areas such as the rules of the road, risk perception, hazard awareness and good driving behaviour.
The £25.20 tests will be held at 41 locations throughout the country. Those who fail will have to pay the fee each time they retake the test.
