Fly-half David Delaney put in a kicking masterclass as champions Shannon moved back on top of the AIB League Division One after defeating Dungannon.

Delaney converted all seven of their tries and bagged a 47th-minute drop goal as Mick Galwey's side looked in excellent form ahead of a five-week league fixture break.

Fionn McLoughlin started the ball rolling with a 14th-minute touchdown and was followed by Dave O'Donovan and Andrew Thompson as strugglers Dungannon - who had lock Tim Barker sin-binned on 23 minutes for deliberately collapsing a maul - replied with a sole Mark Bradley penalty.

Trailing 21-3 at the break, the Tyrone men offered little on the restart and it was Delaney who re-opened the scoring with his 25-metre drop.

Further tries followed for Colm McMahon, skipper Tom Hayes - set up by a neat forward drive, and a through-the-legs pass to the wing from Eddie Halvey - John O'Connor and Tom Cregan - following Delaney's clever 65th-minute chip through.

Galwey's charge let in Seamus Mallon for a 76th-minute try and scan consolation as 'Gannon sit eight points off-the-bottom.

Scorers:

Shannon: Tries: Fionn McLoughlin, David O'Donovan, Andrew Thompson, Colm McMahon, Tom Hayes, John O'Connor, Tom Cregan; Cons: David Delaney 7; Drop gl: Delaney

Dungannon: Try: Seamus Mallon; Pen: Mark Bradley
