Padraig Harrington and Colin Montgomerie have been drawn together for the second day four-balls at Oakland hills.

Darren Clarke teams up with Ian Poulter while Paul McGinley is rested.

Meanwhile, Phil Mickelson was dropped from the American Ryder Cup line-up for the second day fourballs after his costly last-hole error at Oakland Hills last night.

Mickelson’s final drive finished against the out of bounds fence and led to a second defeat for himself and Tiger Woods as Europe charged into a record-breaking 6 1/2-1 1/2 lead.

United States captain Hal Sutton benched the Masters champion and put Woods with debutant Chris Riley instead. They will play Darren Clarke and Ian Poulter, who comes in for his first game.

Paul Casey and David Howell also enter the match and will do so as partners against Jim Furyk and Chad Campbell after spending the first day as spectators.

Draw for the second day fourballs in the 35th Ryder Cup, United States v Europe, at Oakland Hills Country Club, Detroit, on Saturday (USA names first, all times Irish time):

1310 Jay Haas and Chris DiMarco v Sergio Garcia and Lee Westwood

1325 Tiger Woods and Chris Riley v Darren Clarke and Ian Poulter

1340 Jim Furyk and Chad Campbell v Paul Casey and David Howell

1355 Stewart Cink and Davis Love v Colin Montgomerie and Padraig Harrington
