Conal Keaney (0-09) and Ryan O’Dwyer (2-02) starred for the newly-crowned Walsh Cup champions, who were 2-12 to 0-06 ahead at half-time.

Offaly corner back Brian Mulrooney was dismissed for a wild pull in the 24th minute, after which there was a growing inevitability about the final result.

Shane Dooley (1-03) netted in the 50th minute for the Faithfuls, but Dubs goalkeeper Gary Maguire denied them a second goal by saving Joe Bergin’s late penalty.

The result maintains Dublin's exciting start to 2011 and in truth, Anthony Daly's improving team destroyed a surprisingly poor Offaly outfit.

A Division 1 win over Tipperary and a Walsh Cup success over Kilkenny ensured Dublin ventured to the midlands in confident mood and they produced another splendid display.

Though the sides were level at 0-05 each after 15 minutes, the Dubs then went on the rampage to score 2-07 without reply.

Johnny McCaffrey was stylish at centre-field, ensuring a plentiful supply of ball to a busy Dublin attack in which Keaney and former Tipperary player O'Dwyer were efficient.

Daire Plunkett and McCaffrey struck points before O'Dwyer pounced for a smashing 20th minute goal following a crisp delivery from Keaney.

Keaney, McCaffrey and O'Dwyer all clipped over points as Offaly failed to contain Daly's men who seemed to be able to ease up through the gears.

Brian Mulrooney's sending-off for a wild pull left sluggish Offaly in all sorts of trouble and the visitors were keen to inflict further damage.

A second goal was bagged in the 32nd minute when O’Dwyer reacted smartly after goalkeeper James Dempsey had saved a blistering Keaney free.

Brian Carroll ended a 21-minute search for an Offaly score on the stroke of half-time, but Dublin still went in with a 12-point buffer at the interval.

Unfortunately for Offaly, it was a similar story after the break as Dublin continued to dominate with Keaney razor sharp.

Credit to Offaly, they kept battling for scores and nicked a goal when substitute Michael Cordial manufactured a chance for Shane Dooley who provided a cool finish.

Dublin, though, were never seriously troubled with Keaney excelling while substitute Conor Clinton also contributed a brace of points.

Offaly were awarded a penalty with two minutes remaining when Peter Kelly fouled Dooley, but net minder Maguire saved Bergin's thunderbolt of a shot and Dublin ran out emphatic winners.
