GAA

Dublin are through to the All-Ireland football semi-finals.

Colm Basquel scored both goals in a comprehensive 2-17 to 0-11 win over Mayo at Croke Park.

Dessie Farrell's side produced a strong second half display, having led by 1-6 to eight points at half-time.

Derry also advanced to the last four earlier today, after a 1-12 to 1-8 defeat of Cork.

Kerry and Monaghan are also in the semi-finals.

European Games

Ireland claimed two gold medals at the European Games in Poland this afternoon.

Boxer Aoife O'Rourke defeated her French opponent to win the 75kg final in decisive fashion.

Kickboxer Amy Wall won her final in the full-contact 60kg event.

Nathan Tait and Conor McGlinchey both took silver having lost out in their respective finals.

Horse racing

Auguste Rodin came good to claim the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at the Curragh.

Ryan Moore was on board to guide the three-year-old to victory for trainer Aidan O'Brien.

It completes a unique double after Auguste Rodin also enjoyed success at Epsom earlier this year.

Cricket

England's cricketers have gone 2-0 down in their Ashes series after a 43-run defeat to Australia on the final day of the second Test.

Captain Ben Stokes made 155 as the hosts appeared to be heading for what had looked like an unlikely victory but were bowled out for 327 at Lord's.

Formula One

Max Verstappen has continued his dominance in Formula One with victory at the Austrian Grand Prix.

It is the world champion's fifth straight race win, finishing ahead of Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, with Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez in third.
