Shamrock Rovers needed a late goal to avoid a shock defeat to Galway United as they drew 1-1 against Galway United.

Stephen Walsh put Galway ahead in the 55th minute. and looked to be on course for an impressive victory until Johnny Kenny's 84th minute goal.

Stephen Bradley's side are in third,five points off the leaders, with Galway United in fifth.

Shelbourne remained top of the table after a 1-0 win over St Patrick's Athletic.

John Martin's goal in the 33rd minute gave Damien Duff's side victory to end their run of games without a win.

Dundalk got their first win of the season in a 2-0 win over Bohemians at Oriel Park.

Scott High and Robbie Benson's goals in the first half gave Noel King's side a much needed win.

Drogheda United came back from an early deficit to defeat Sligo Rovers 3-1.

William Fitzgerald put Sligo ahead after just six minutes, but goals from Darragh Markey, Frantz Pierrot and Aaron McNally gave Drogheda victory.

Derry City are second in the table after a 2-0 win away to Waterford.

Goals from William Patching and Patrick Hoban leaves Derry three points behind Shelbourne.
