The Republic of Ireland women's side have just defeated Northern Ireland 3-0 in their opening game at the Nations League game.

Goals from Lucy Quinn, Kyra Carusa and Lily Agg gave Ireland the win in the Aviva Stadium in front of over 36 thousand people iun their first game in the stadium.

Manchester United lead Burnley 1-0 at half time in the Premier League at Turf Moor.

But Ireland weathered a tremendous South African storm and Mack Hansen found the corner for Ireland's try in the 33rd minute.

Cheslin Kolbe gave South Africa the lead with a try in the 50th minute, but Ireland regained the lead through a Sexton penalty.

Earlier, Henry Arundell ran in five tries as England made light work of Chile in Pool D.

Theo Dan and Marcus Smith also crossed twice in a 71-0 victory in Lille.

Portugal and Georgia played out a thrilling 18 all draw in their Pool C meeting.

Formula One

Max Verstappen's qualified on pole for the Japanese Grand Prix after setting a rapid time.

The Red Bull world champion's effort was the biggest margin between the first and second fastest cars at Suzuka in 19 years.
