West Brom target Darren Carter will hold talks with Birmingham manager Steve Bruce before deciding on his future.
The midfielder has been the subject of a bid from Albion manager Bryan Robson - who was Carter’s hero as a youngster.
Bruce insisted the Baggies offer – believed to be around £1.6million – has not met Blues’ valuation.”
Birmingham-born Carter said: “To be honest, the first I heard about it (West Brom’s interest) was when I read of it in the papers and people then started calling me.
“I’ll speak to the gaffer and see what he says and what his plans are for me. I’ll then take things from there when I know more myself.”
Carter shot to prominence when he scored the decisive penalty in the Division One play-off final shoot-out against Norwich three years ago.
He struggled to hold down a first-team place in the Premiership and last season but had a successful three-month loan spell with Sunderland before returning to St Andrews in December because of an injury crisis.
Carter impressed on his return to the side but was back out of favour towards the end of the campaign – and Bruce has intimated he will be looking to bring in new midfield talent this summer.
Scott Parker and Lee Bowyer are understood to be major targets for the City supremo who is determined to find a replacement for Robbie savage after his January departure to Blackburn.
