Parts of Cork city and county are at risk of flooding on Friday and Saturday due to "very high astronomical spring tides".
A high tide advisory has been issued by Met Éireann which will stay in place until Monday evening. High coastal water levels are expected on Saturday.
The period of supermoon spring tides is expected to be "one of the highest during 2024", a spokesperson for Cork County Council said.

High tide is expected at 5pm on Friday.
Property owners and residents at known coastal risk locations are being advised to take the usual necessary precautions.
Minor localised flooding is also predicted along low-lying quays in Cork city including:

- Mathew Quay
- Mathew Street
- Union Quay
- Trinity Bridge
- South Terrace
- Rutland Street
- Sawmill Street
- Lavitt's Quay
- Kyrl's Street
- Kyrl's Quay
- Crosses Green
- Proby’s Quay
- Sharman Crawford Street
- Wandesford Quay
Cork City Council said its Flood Assessment Team will be monitoring the situation closely and that regular updates will be issued.
Householders and businesses are being advised to take the necessary precautions to protect property.
