Johnson could make Fulham debut

Fulham could field Andrew Johnson in tomorrow’s Carling Cup second-round clash with Leicester but the former Everton striker will not be risked unless he has fully recovered from a thigh injury.

Fulham could field Andrew Johnson in tomorrow’s Carling Cup second-round clash with Leicester but the former Everton striker will not be risked unless he has fully recovered from a thigh injury.

Johnson missed the opening league defeat at Hull and Saturday’s 1-0 win over Arsenal but South Korea’s Seol Ki-Hyeon has done well in his place and Hodgson has other attacking options in Norway’s Erik Nevland and American Clint Dempsey.

With Fulham’s next game not until September 13, Hodgson may also give a debut to Swedish defender Fredrik Stoor, but left-back Paul Konchesky remains an injury doubt while striker Diomansy Kamara (knee) and goalkeeper Antti Niemi (wrist) are long-term casualties.

Provisional squad: Schwarzer, Stoor, Pantsil, Hangeland, Hughes, Davies, Murphy, Bullard, Gera, Kallio, Andreasen, Andranik, Zamora, Johnson, Dempsey, Nevland, Seol, Brown, Milsom, Baird, Stockdale, Zuberbuhler, Stockdale.
