Gray a doubt for Candystripes

Derry City and Dundalk go head-to-head in tonight’s Premier Division clash at the Brandywell, 7.45pm.

Derry City and Dundalk go head-to-head in tonight’s Premier Division clash at the Brandywell, 7.45pm.

The Candystripes must plan without Sammy Morrow (ankle), Kevin Deery (knee) and Ger O'Brien (hamstring), while Steven Gray (knee) is a doubt.

Liam Kearney returns to the squad after recovering from a broken leg.

City boss Stephen Kenny said: "After a good display and win in Bray it was very disappointing to beaten by Galway at home on Tuesday night.

“To be fair we should have been three or four up in that game but we were punished for defensive errors and obviously I'm not happy about that.

“To have gone with three clean sheets in the league for to then concede three at home is not acceptable, but I'm confident that we can up our form again at home to Dundalk."

Dundalk must travel to the Brandywell without Tiarnan Mulvenna and Chris Turner who are both serving suspensions.

There are doubts over midfielder Mickey Collins (back) and defensive duo Simon Kelly (groin) and Shaun Kelly (flu).

Left-back James Creaney has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a broken toe, although striker Ger Rowe is available having already served his suspension.

Dundalk boss Sean Connor said: “We have got to believe that we can still get a European spot.

“We have done well against Derry this season, but the Brandywell is always a difficult place to go and they’ll be looking to bounce back from Tuesday’s defeat by Galway, so we’re well aware of the task facing us.

“We have a couple of suspensions and some injury worries, but I’m confident that the squad can cope with those.”
