Youngsters Scott Gallacher, Paul Emslie and Andrew Shinnie were named on the bench for a game which could see Rangers clinch second place in the Bank of Scotland Premier League. Dado Prso failed to recover from tonsilitis in time to appear.

Celtic made four changes to the side beaten 3-1 by Hearts in the Bank of Scotland Premier League last week.

In came Thomas Gravesen and Gary Caldwell; out went Jiri Jarosik and Jean-Joel Perrier-Doumbe.

Rangers: McGregor, Hutton, Weir, Ehiogu, Papac, Ferguson, Hemdani, Thomson, Novo, Boyd, Adam. Subs: Gallacher, Rae, Burke, Svensson, Sebo, Emslie, Shinnie.

Celtic: Boruc, Caldwell, Pressley, McManus, Naylor, Nakamura, Gravesen, Lennon, Hartley, McGeady, Vennegoor of Hesselink. Subs: Brown, O’Dea, Bjarnason, Miller, Jarosik, Riordan, Perrier Doumbe.
