Chelsea midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron looks set to sign on loan for Inter Milan for a further two seasons.
The 30-year-old was on loan at the San Siro last season after one campaign at Stamford Bridge under former boss Claudio Ranieri.
Subject to the completion of final paperwork, the Argentina international’s new deal will start on July 1.
The former Manchester United man is set to be a key player for Roberto Mancini’s side as they aim to improve on last season’s Serie A campaign when they came third and won the Coppa Italia.
“We are very satisfied with how the negotiations with Veron and Chelsea concluded,” Inter’s technical director Marco Branca told the club website, www.inter.it
“His staying at Inter was an objective of the club, Roberto Mancini and the player himself, who for some time had expressed his wish to continue together with us.”
He added: “Veron’s confirmation was a primary objective and it has been reached with the full satisfaction of everyone.”
Veron, capped 58 times by Argentina, spent three seasons in the Premiership prior to his return to Italy.
He played for Sampdoria, Parma and Lazio before moving to Manchester United in 2001 for a then British record of £28.1million.
Chelsea signed Veron in 2003 for £15million but he suffered an injury-hit spell at Stamford Bridge – making 14 appearances and scoring one goal.
