A Greek airliner that was forced to divert to Shannon Airport yesterday following a bomb scare has resumed its journey to New York.
The Airbus 340, which was carrying 295 passengers and 12 crew, was cleared to take off in the early hours of this morning after a thorough search found nothing suspicious on board.
The plane was diverted to Shannon when an Athens newspaper received a warning claiming a bomb was on board.
The aircraft was directed to a remote runway, where it was searched for seven hours.
Over the weekend, another transatlantic flight from Greece was diverted to Stansted Airport in Britain after an identical warning.
No bomb was found on that plane either.
