The union has been accusing the Minister for Education of concentrating his efforts on contingency plans instead of trying to settle the row.

Once again, it is insisting that the docking of teacher’s pay packets on the week running into Christmas was illegal.

John White of the ASTI says that issue must be resolved for peace talks to happen. He says the minister’s decision to dock teachers pay before Christmas because of strike action had rendered the continuation of the process impossible.
