San to shine for Fahey

Sandown’s extended two-miler has seen some proper punts landed in years gone by as connections eye a tantalising bonus.

The impressive sum of £75,000 is available for any horse who can win the race and follow up at the Cheltenham Festival the following week, which is exactly what Gaspara did 12 months ago.

However, it could be all change this year as Richard Fahey’s improving Halla San does not even hold an engagement at Prestbury Park.

That has perhaps led the layers to underestimate his chances at Sandown and punters should take full advantage of their unusual generosity.

For Fahey’s youngster is improving at a rate of knots and looked a really smart recruit to the jumping game when sprinting away from his rivals at Musselburgh last month.

Kept fresh for this since, he creeps in off a lovely racing weight and will pose a massive threat to all.

Ravello Bay is the pick in the Doncaster Bloodstock Sales/EBF Mares Only Standard Open NH Flat Race Final.

Nicky Henderson’s charge really impressed when making a winning debut at Fakenham, cruising home by seven lengths from Gold Reef.

Ravello Bay is related to some really nice types, including the classy Marello, and she looks a good prospect herself.

Jack Sullivan is something of an all-weather specialist and he is back on these shores after an abortive trip to Dubai.

Gerard Butler’s stable stalwart failed to shine in two outings at Nad Al Sheba earlier in the year, although his fourth behind South African runner Lucky Find looks smart in retrospect.

Jack Sullivan has since been seen to good effect at Lingfield, conceding weight all round to land a nice little conditions event – a win that should stand him in good stead here.

Smart enough to win a couple of Group Threes on his day, Jack Sullivan looks a good bet in the williamhill.co.uk Lady Wulfruna Stakes.

The similarly-sponsored Lincoln Trial Stakes is very competitive but Murfreesboro is taken to come out on top.

The five-year-old has run up against a useful rival in Baharah on his last two starts, finishing fourth on the first occasion before pulling a place closer last time.

The weights did not favour him latterly and he could be a little better than the bare result suggests.

Murfreesboro has not won since his juvenile days but his steady descent in the handicap sees him on a career-low of 90 and he can take full advantage.

Something Silver can complete a course-and-distance double in Ayr’s Allied Irish Bank (GB) Corporate Banking Handicap Chase.

Trained by local handler Jim Goldie, the seven-year-old showed plenty of grit when landing a half-length victory over Native Coll late last month.

He will need to utilise his undoubted heart once again with testing conditions likely, but Something Silver seems to excel with cut in the ground.

Contact Dancer is without a victory over fences in 13 tries but did enough at Doncaster last time to warrant respect in the Guinness Beginners’ Chase at Chepstow.
