Breen second in Sweden

Craig Breen is holding second place after day two of Rally Sweden in the SWRC section of the World Rally Championship.

Breen, who won the first round in Monte Carlo in January is trailing leader PG Andersson by 2 minutes and 6 seconds after today’s 8 stages.

Breen had been more than nine seconds off the pace last night after a puncture on the Super Special Stage in Karlstad slowed him up.

However, he got back on track today finishing third on stages 2 and 3 to climb to third overall behind home favourite Andersson and wildcard Pontus Tidemand.

The 22-year-old then had his fastest time of the day winning stage 4 and keeping himself in third position.

The top three drivers stayed as they were for stages 5, 6 and 7 before a collision with a snow bank on Stage 8 for Tidemand meant the Swede having to stop due to his front air intake being blocked.

Breen capitalised and moved himself into second place overall 1 minute and 25 seconds behind Andersson.

The Waterford driver then finished 6th on Stage 9 to hold on to second position overall but is now 2 minutes and 6 seconds behind Andresson with Tidemand a further 2 minutes back in third place ahead of tonights final Super Special Stage in Karlstad.

Rally Sweden continues tomorrow with 8 stages, finishing with 6 final stages on Sunday.
