A public inquiry into garda corruption in Donegal may take place while civil and criminal actions are ongoing.

A public inquiry into garda corruption in Donegal may take place while civil and criminal actions are ongoing.

Fine Gael's Alan Shatter says it is an appalling scandal that questions remain about the death of cattle dealer Richie Baron and garda involvement in false IRA arms finds.

In the Dail Deputy Shatter also claims that intimidation of the McBrearty family who were falsely accused of being involved in Baron's death is still ongoing.

The Minister for Justice John O'Donoghue told the Dail he is now trying to establish if a public inquiry can proceed while other cases are pending.
