Mark Hughes has promised Jonathan Spector he will get his chance at Blackburn after the teenage American defender signed on loan until the end of the season.
Spector has played five first-team games for Manchester United but Hughes believes the 18-year-old will have a greater opportunity to make a name for himself at Ewood Park.
Hughes said: “We are delighted we were able to get Jonathan. He is very highly-rated at Manchester United and it is an opportunity to bring him into the club.
“He may get more opportunities now at first-team level which would be good for us. He has come in primarily as cover, because we have not got any cover at all at right-back, but he has versatility and can play right across the backline so it is a good addition.”
Meanwhile, Blackburn have several injury worries ahead of today’s Barclays Premiership match at Bolton.
Steven Reid is doubtful after suffering a kick above the ankle against Newcastle and David Thompson is likely to start instead after impressing from the bench against the Magpies.
