Fenerbahce president Aziz Yildirim has vehemently denied claims that the Turkish league leaders are in talks with Lyon coach Paul Le Guen about taking charge at the Sukru Saracoglu stadium next season.
Le Guen, who will leave the French outfit this summer after guiding them to their fourth consecutive Ligue 1 title, has been strongly linked with Fenerbahce in the Turkish press this week.
However, in a statement on Tuesday, Yildirim branded the rumours “unfounded” and claimed that the news was invented by their rivals in an attempt to derail the club’s championship run-in.
Christoph Daum is currently in charge of Fenerbahce and has guided the club to a four-point lead at the top of the Turkish top flight with just four games remaining.
Le Guen will leave Lyon at the end of the French season on May 28 after sealing his third straight French championship just over a week ago. Jacques Santini was coach for Lyon’s first success.
