This afternoon’s meeting at Sedgefield has been given the all-clear after a successful second inspection at 8.30am.

Clerk of the course Charlie Moore was content with the outcome of an initial 7am precautionary check but needed to look again after overnight temperatures dipped to minus-two degrees.

He said: “We gave it until after daybreak just in case the temperature plummeted.

“Thankfully that wasn’t the case and racing goes ahead.

“We are only just above freezing but should be absolutely fine.”

The going at Sedgefield is good to soft, soft in the back straight, with racing set to commence at 12.50pm.
