Gardaí in Limerick are due to hold a meeting this morning to discuss the possible release of the killers of Detective Garda Jerry McCabe.
Last week, the Taoiseach told the Dáil that he would recommend the release of the four IRA men as part of a deal to secure IRA decommissioning and rescue the Irish peace process.
Today's meeting, arranged by the Garda Representative Association, is due to be held in Adare, where Garda McCabe was shot dead eight years ago during a botched post office robbery.
Speaking ahead of the talks, GRA regional chairman Kevin McCarthy said the possible release had angered gardaí.
"We've always held the line that they shouldn't be released at any stage," he said. "Garda McCabe is in his grave and he will have no early release."
