Fine Gael’s Gay Mitchell has urged the Minister for Health, Michael Martin, to replace the entire board of the Irish Blood Transfusion Service following the resignation of its chairperson.

Fine Gael’s Gay Mitchell has urged the Minister for Health, Michael Martin, to replace the entire board of the Irish Blood Transfusion Service following the resignation of its chairperson.

Patricia Barker stood down in protest at the proposed transfer of blood-testing from Cork to Dublin.

Mr Mitchell has said Minister Martin showed poor judgement when appointing the board and he should now make it more nationally representative.
