President Higgins pays tribute to Mandela as thousands celebrate his life
The life of Nelson Mandela has been celebrated by thousands.
World leaders mixed with royalty, celebrities and members of the public to remember South Africa's first black president at the FNB Stadium in Soweto.
Mr Mandela will lie in state in advance of his funeral on Sunday.
