Dáil stopped early after Ceann Comhairle suspends Technical Group members

The Dáil has been suspended for the day, amid a major row between the Technical Group and the Ceann Comhairle.

The Dáil schedule was thrown into disarray this afternoon after three members of the Technical Group were thrown out of the chamber in a row over speaking rights.

Business was held up for almost two hours amid as the Ceann Comhairle, Sean Barrett, suspended the Dáil three times, with votes also required to remove Catherine Murphy, John Halligan and Thomas Pringle.

The dispute relates to a decision by the Ceann Comhairle to give some of the Technical Group's speaking time to two members of the Reform Alliance.
