Watch out for Jackson in Marvel's TV spin-off

Samuel L. Jackson has filmed a cameo in 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'

'The Avengers' actor reprised his role as Nick Fury from the Marvel movies for the second episode of the franchise's TV spin-off, which aired last night in the United States.

Jackson plays the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. in Marvel's various movies and has had roles as Fury in 'Iron Man' and 'Captain America', as well as last year's smash hit superhero team-up movie.

The Oscar-nominated star previously expressed he would be willing to reprise his role in the TV show - which is produced by 'Avengers' director Joss Whedon - suggesting he could simply have a voice role like the mysterious titular character in 'Charlie's Angels'.

He said: "If I was going to do 'S.H.I.E.L.D.', I'd like to be - you know Charlie's voice on 'Charlie's Angels?' That would be perfect.

"Everybody recognises my voice. That would be good enough for me. And I told Joss that."

Whedon previously insisted 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' would focus on the show's cast, but he is open to cameos from the stars of his 'Avengers' movies, including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo and Scarlett Johansson.

He said: "I think it's a great idea for the show and a perfectly good idea for them. I'm not going to go begging and I'm not going to use up favours I need for 'Avengers 2'. The DNA of the show is the show. Those guys would be a delightful bonus but we're not building our arcs around them and we'll see what happens."

'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' follows 'Avengers' character Agent Phil Coulson - played by Clark Gregg - who assembles a special team to investigate unexplainable acts and otherworldly threats.
