Jockey Dean McKeown and trainer Bobby Elliott will appear before the Jockey Club’s disciplinary panel tomorrow over the running and riding of Vampire Queen at Southwell in December.
At the inquiry, which is due to start at 10am, the panel will consider whether or not McKeown has committed a breach of Rule 158, and whether or not Elliott, the trainer, has committed a breach of Rule 155 (ii) concerning the running and riding of Vampire Queen in the Bet Direct Maiden Stakes at Southwell on December 12.
The filly finished a never-nearer seventh of 15 behind Titus Salt that day.
Following Vampire Queen’s win at Wolverhampton on January 19, the local stewards referred the filly’s previous races to the stewards of the Jockey Club for review under Instruction H19.
Under Instruction H19, the racecourse stewards refer to the Jockey Club any case whereby a horse wins having never been placed, or certain cases of horses showing marked improvement upon a previous run, so that the previous races of the horse in question can be reviewed.
