Girls Aloud star Nadine Coyle has disappointed fans by pulling out of a reality TV show - because the programme's bosses refused to let her undertake charity work.

All five members of the girl band had been lined up to star in new series 'Passions', which would see TV crews follow Kimberley Walsh, Cheryl Cole, Nicola Roberts, Sarah Harding and Coyle as they embarked upon the "activity of their dreams".

But Derry native Coyle was unimpressed when her plan to help underprivileged children in South America was shelved, with the show's producers suggesting she learned how to conduct an orchestra instead.

"I'm not really into reality things or things that aren't to promote Girls Aloud," she said.

"I wanted to do something with a charity in Bolivia that got kids off the street, but it didn't sit with the programme."

A spokesperson for network ITV said: "We are fortunate that four members of Girls Aloud are able to take part and fulfil their passions. It's just a shame Nadine wasn't available."
