Holywood Golf Club in County Down will welcome back its most famous son today when US Open champion Rory McIlroy drops in for a private visit.

Holywood Golf Club in Co Down will welcome back its most famous son today when US Open champion Rory McIlroy drops in for a private visit.

The 22-year-old arrived back in Belfast last night, two days after his record-breaking victory in Washington.

The North's First Minister Peter Robinson and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness will be among the first to offer their congratulations.

A huge public celebration is also being planned in the town of Holywood.
