Duo supplemented for Eclipse

Blue Monday and Snoqualmie Boy have been supplemented for an all-star renewal of Saturday’s Coral-Eclipse Stakes at Sandown.

Blue Monday and Snoqualmie Boy have been supplemented for an all-star renewal of Saturday’s Coral-Eclipse Stakes at Sandown.

Roger Charlton has added Blue Monday to the field at a cost of £20,000 (€28,842) after he finished fourth in the Wolferton Stakes at Royal Ascot.

David Elsworth’s Snoqualmie Boy was an impressive winner of the Hampton Court Stakes last time after finishing 16th in the Vodafone Derby on his penultimate start.

Ouija Board and David Junior, first and fourth respectively in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot, could cross swords again in the 10-furlong contest, which has attracted a total of 13 horses.

Aidan O’Brien, who won the Eclipse last year with Oratorio, has four horses still engaged with French 2000 Guineas winner Aussie Rules, Ace, Arabian Prince and Hurricane Cat.

Sir Michael Stoute could be double-handed with Notable Guest and Notnowcato standing their ground, while Yasoodd, Hattan and Royal Alchemist complete the list of possibles.

Notable withdrawals at the five-day stage include Stoute’s Hardwicke Stakes winner Maraahel, Prince Of Wales’s runner-up Electrocutionist and unlucky Derby fourth Hala Bek.

David Junior is the 11-8 favourite from 6-4 with the sponsors for Saturday’s main event while Ouija Board is a 7-4 chance ahead of Notnowcato at 8-1.

Blue Monday and Snoqualmie Boy are 10-1 and 14-1 respectively.

“We’re delighted that connections of Blue Monday and Snoqualmie Boy have entered the race, and with 13 still in at the five-day stage, we’re hopeful of having a decent number of runners to go with the undoubted quality,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
