More people changing names by deed poll

Many people who've come to live in Ireland from abroad are choosing to change their names.

Many people who've come to live in Ireland from abroad are choosing to change their names.

Figures released by the Courts Service in its annual report show a 33% increase in those going to the High Court to take a new name by deed poll.

Many of these people are non-Irish nationals, according to a Courts Service spokesperson.

Over 2,500 people applied to change their name last year.
