Larsson ready to take on old mates

Henrik Larsson insists there is no reason why he should not be able to take on former club Celtic tomorrow night.

Henrik Larsson insists there is no reason why he should not be able to take on former club Celtic tomorrow night.

The Swedish star is understood to have picked up a slight hamstring strain during Barcelona‘s 2-0 La Primera Liga win over Seville on Saturday.

He played the full 90 minutes and scored the Catalan giants‘ second goal - showing he is still in top form ahead of tomorrow‘s Champions League clash at Parkhead.

Larsson quit Celtic in the summer after earning legendary status during his seven years in the East End of Glasgow and, despite such a short absence from Scotland, he was met with chaotic scenes at Glasgow Airport.

Despite playing against the Hoops – if selected by coach Frank Rijkaard - Celtic supporters were keen to welcome their hero back to Glasgow, while media from Scotland, Spain and Sweden clamoured to speak to the hitman.

Despite slight fears over his fitness, Larsson insists he is ready to play if called upon by Rijkaard.

He said: “It‘s good to be back in Scotland, I feel great and I have never felt fitter.

“I‘m looking forward to the game.”

Whether Larsson will still be held in high regard by the Hoops faithful if he scores against Celtic tomorrow night remains to be seen.

He added: “To be honest, I‘m not sure how I will be received at Parkhead tomorrow night.”
