Minister approves 25 new school building projects

The Minister for Education has granted approval for 25 new school building projects, which will now proceed to the tender and construction phases.

Batt O'Keeffe has outlined plans to provide permanent places for more than 4,600 primary school pupils in five new schools and 15 extended and modernised schools.

A further 3,000 second-level students will benefit from one new school and three major extension and refurbishment projects.

Schools going to site before the end of 2008:

Five primary, two post-primary
