The livestock industry in the North has been given the all clear to resume exports to Europe after being granted regional status by the European Commission.

The decision came at the EC's standing veterinary committee meeting in Brussels after officials from the North's Department of Agriculture had made their case.

Northern Agriculture Minister Brid Rodgers said the ban on meat, livestock and dairy products would be lifted from April 3 if there are no further outbreaks of foot and mouth disease there.
