A 15-year-old girl killed after the car she was travelling in crashed in Co Wicklow last Sunday is to be laid to rest on Friday in her native town.

Molly’s family had already suffered two previous bereavements, when two of her brothers died in separate incidents. A 13-year-old brother passed away tragically while another 18-year-old brother died in Dublin. She is the third of nine Dempsey children to have lost their lives.

The teenage male driver was arrested on suspicion of offences under the Road Traffic Act, was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 but later released.

Gardaí said investigations were ongoing, and a file was being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Her funeral notice reads: "Suddenly, following an accident. Beloved sister of the late Roy and Killian. Sadly missed by her broken-hearted parents Nigel and Mary, brothers Joe, Charlie and Jake, sisters Laura, Yvonne and Ella, grandmothers May (Fox) and Dolly (Dempsey) uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family and many friends.”

Her remains will be reposing at her residence on Thursday from midday, concluding at 8pm. Her Requiem Mass will be held at St Joseph’s Church, Baltinglass, on Friday at 11am. Burial will follow in Baltinglass Cemetery.

One person who expressed their sympathies with the Dempsey family said on rip.ie: “To Nigel Mary and all Molly's brothers, sisters and relatives I am so, so sorry for your loss. I hope Molly and her two brothers give u all the strength to get through this awful time. Thoughts and prayers go out to you all. Rest in peace now Molly in the arms of your brothers.”

Another mourner added: “Rest in peace princess, hope you have the best bed up there with your two brothers Killian and Roy. Sending my condolences to the Dempsey family on the loss of their baby girl."

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses, or people with relevant dash camera footage, to contact Baltinglass Garda station on (059) 6482610, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
