RTÉ calling for participants for Late Late Toy Show

The Late Late Toy Show is presented by Ryan Tubridy and features children from all over Ireland.

The annual Late Late Toy Show will begin accepting applications for performers and toy testers from today.

Ryan Tubridy made the announcement of RTÉ Radio One, saying the decision was taken to open the applications early as "children need it more than ever".

Any child interested in applying to be on the show is being asked to submit their audition tapes on the RTÉ website.

The programme showcases talented children from all over the country each year, singing, dancing and testing the most popular toys in the run up to Christmas.

Tubridy said this year's show would be "the most remarkable Toy Show that we have ever put together."

The Late Late Toy Show is one of the most watched programmes in Ireland each year, drawing in millions of viewers from home and abroad via the RTÉ international player.

This year, the programme will celebrate its 45th anniversary having first broadcast in 1975 with Gay Byrne at the helm.

The show has since been presented by Pat Kenny and currently is overseen by Tubridy and his array of festive jumpers.
