TDs criticise Garda response to 'Shell to Sea' protests

Politicians from across the spectrum are criticising Garda behaviour during protests against the Corrib Gas Pipeline.

The Labour Party, the Greens, Sinn Féin and a number of independent TDs say the 'Shell to Sea' campaign group have been subjected to police brutality.

Demonstrators claim the Gardaí have been given orders to treat them aggressively, during what they say were peaceful protests.

Green Party Leader Trevor Sargeant described the handling of the protests as 'disgraceful'.
