England’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is not in the squad, with Theo Walcott and goalkeeper David Ospina both back from injury among the substitutes.

QPR – who had lost all of their league away games so far – make five changes, with defender Rio Ferdinand captaining the side in his first appearance since the start of October and in-form Charlie Austin leading the attack.

Arsenal: Szczesny, Debuchy, Mertesacker, Monreal, Gibbs, Rosicky, Flamini, Cazorla, Sanchez, Giroud, Welbeck.

Subs: Podolski, Ospina, Walcott, Chambers, Campbell, Coquelin, Bellerin.

QPR: Green, Caulker, Ferdinand, Onuoha, Isla, Kranjcar, Henry, Mutch, Traore, Vargas, Austin.

Subs: Hill, Phillips, Fer, Wright-Phillips, McCarthy, Hoilett, Zamora.

Referee: Martin Atkinson (W Yorkshire)
