Leading by 0-7 to 0-5 at half-time in Ballykelly, the visitors outscored Kildare by 3-6 to 0-3 in a one-sided second half.

The Lilywhites remain pointless from four matches while victory for Laois leaves them second in the table behind champions Cork, who have recorded four victories from four League outings.

Laois could even afford the luxury of a missed penalty against Kildare before Mary Kirwan, Olwyn Farrell and Mags McEvoy scored the second half goals for the O’Moore County.

Kildare are now cut adrift at the bottom of the table, three points behind Donegal, Tyrone and Meath, and badly need a couple of victories in their final three League outings to have any chance of avoiding the drop to Division 2.

Meanwhile, Monaghan ran riot against hosts Donegal in the big Ulster derby at Convoy.

Ciara McAnespie and Catriona McConnell bagged a brace of goals apiece while Caoimhe Mohan also ratted the back of the Donegal net as Monaghan ran out 5-16 to 1-5 winners.

McConnell (2-3) and McAnespie (2-2) were Donegal’s tormentors in chief as the home side scored a second half consolation goal when Karen Guthrie converted a penalty.

This was a hugely impressive display from Monaghan, who are almost certain to achieve a top four finish, along with Dublin, Laois and Cork.

With three rounds of regulation matches remaining in Division 1, Kildare are staring relegation in the face while Donegal, Tyrone and Meath are in danger of going down with them.

Monaghan led by 2-9 to 0-3 at half-time against Donegal, with McAnespie and McConnell on target with first half goals.

In Division 2, Galway inflicted a first defeat of the season on Kerry and moved second in the table behind Mayo thanks to a 1-11 to 2-6 victory in Ballinsaloe.

With just 25 minutes on the watch, Galway led by a whopping eleven-point margin, 1-9 to 0-1, before Louise Ní Mhuircheataigh scored two goals within the space of a minute shortly before half-time.

Playing against the wind, Kerry struggled badly in the first half before Ní Mhuircheartaigh’s interventions as Edel Concannon’s ninth-minute goal put the home side firmly in control.

Galway were left hanging on somewhat towards the end as Patrice Dennehy dragged a penalty wide with ten minutes remaining.

In Division 3, Westmeath suffered their first defeat of the season, losing out by 1-9 to 1-12 against Leitrim.

And in Division 4, Longford remain on top of the table after scoring a narrow 0-13 to 1-9 victory at home to third-placed Offaly.
