Kanye West has opened up about the passing of his mother and the end of his romance with Alexis Phifer - and he's blaming his success for both life-shattering events.
The rapper was performing at London's 02 arena last night - the day after the first anniversary of his mum's death - when he took a moment to remember those he had loved and lost.
In a freestyle rap, West asked of his fans: "What would you do if this s**t happened to you? You lost everything that mattered... Moved to L.A., where everything is fake... and your mum goes and does just that.
"Tell me what would you do if this happened to you, lost your girl and everything that mattered to you... For fame I paid the biggest cost, for fame I paid the biggest cost."
West's mother Donda died from complications after a cosmetic surgery procedure in November 2007, and the rapper split from fiancee Phifer in April.
