A man is dead following a road accident near Dundalk in Co Louth.

A man is dead following a road accident near Dundalk in Co Louth.

It happened close to the Ballymascanlon filling station on the Carlingford Road, shortly before 7.40am today.

It is understood that a single vehicle, a lorry, was involved in the incident.

The victim was taken to the Louth County Hospital in Dundalk, where he was pronounced dead.
