A man was shot in both legs in a Northern punishment-style shooting in front of his wife and children in his home in Wexford town last night.
The shooting took place in the Ferndale Park area of the town at around 10pm.
Two masked gunmen forced their way into the house, where the man, who is in his early 30s, was watching television with his family.
The men, who were both carrying guns, shot him once in each knee.
The victim was rushed to Wexford General Hospital before being transferred to Waterford General Hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
A Wexford Hospital spokesperson has described the injuries as not life threatening.
The balaclava-clad gunmen forced their way into the house through the front door and cornered their victim.
Both fired a single shot into his knees - in full view of the man's terrified family.
Neighbours who heard the shots rushed to the family's assistance, discovering the victim crouched on the living room floor in a pool of blood. Gardai have yet to establish a motive for the attack.
