Injury doubts for Kildare ahead of Wicklow clash

Kildare manager Kieran McGeeney is sweating on the fitness of a number of players ahead of Saturday's All-Ireland SFC fourth round qualifier against Wicklow in Portlaoise.

Eamonn Callaghan continues to be a major doubt, and has not trained with the Lilywhites since their Leinster final defeat to Dublin at Croke Park.

There is bad news also for Killian Brennan who injured his hamstring last week in training and is definitely out of Saturday's encounter.

In addition, Willie Heffernan and Philip Hennessy have been ruled out of contention.

A training match was held amongst the squad last Sunday, with Michael Conway and James Kavanagh both sitting out that game.

However, both players are expected to line out this coming weekend for Kildare's second game at O'Moore Park this year, after an opening Leinster Championship victory over Offaly.

On a more positive note for McGeeney and the rest of the Kildare management, Keith Cribbin has returned to full training and will be available for selection.

Kildare and Wicklow last met in Championship action last year, when Wicklow produced a 0-13 to 0-9 victory for their first ever Championship success at Croke Park.

Tony Hannon, the late hero in the win over Down last weekend, scored six points for Wicklow in their 2008 defeat of Kildare.
