Soccer: McAllister's neck 'not broken'

Aberdeen have confirmed that defender Jamie McAllister has not broken his neck as had first been feared during the game against Celtic.

Aberdeen have confirmed that defender Jamie McAllister has not broken his neck as had first been feared during the game against Celtic.

The 23-year-old was stretchered off wearing a neck brace after colliding with Momo Sylla during the 2-0 defeat at Parkhead.

But the Dons have revealed that the youngster has not suffered serious injury.

‘‘Thankfully, Jamie is okay and he travelled back on the team bus,’’ said an Aberdeen spokesman.

‘‘We are not sure how long he will be out for but, fortunately, the injury was not a bad one.’’

McAllister is set to miss out on a return to his former club Queen of the South when the Dons travel to Palmerston Park for the CIS Cup tie in midweek.
