Connacht succeeded in notching their biggest win in European competition with a 61 - 13 victory over Roma in the Galway Sportsground on Saturday.

This Parker Pen European Shield game was over as a contest by half time when Connacht led by 40 - 6.

The first haul of six first-half tries came after just three minutes when left wing Wayne Munn broke three tackles to

score.

Three more tries were to follow by the 20th minute from Eoin Reddan, and a brace for Marnus Uijs, just back from injury.

Although Roma converted a penalty to record their first away points in this year¹s European Shield, it was really all one way traffic as Munn added his second try, while lock Rowan frost also got over before the break.

Although Connacht found it difficult to add to their score after spending 15 minutes inside their own 22, they came back late in the game with Munn, replacement Junior Charlie, and fullback Mark McHugh adding to Connacht's tally of nine tries, eight of which Eric Elwood converted.

Roma did get over for a late try by captain and flanker Carlo Caoine, but it made no difference as Connacht recorded their biggest victory since their entry into Europe.
